Local federal spending up 35%

The value of large federal purchases from local firms increased by more than one-third in 2011, according to data collected by OBJ.

The amount of federal contracts, standing offers and supply arrangements valued at more than $100,000 and awarded to Ottawa companies between Jan. 1 and Nov. 17 of this year hit $1.59 billion, according to information published on the online contracting site Merx.
